Looking to Fill Druid Tank Position!

The Editor

The Editor

When we first began this precocious blog I had three bloggers: a Warrior Tank, a Paladin Tank, and a Druid Tank.

TGAPGeorge worked out okay, Lagom is good–but needs to get the lead out–and our Druid Tank did nothing.  Eventually I obliterated him from the site.

So to fill the vacant position, I’m organizing a Battle-Royale of Druid Tank bloggery where the last Tank standing will be lauded with praise, love slaves, mountains of loot, a pat on the back from me, and a permanent spot as the Druid Tank here at I’m Tanking What?!

ITW Efforts Update

March 30, 2009

TGAPGeorge – Warrior Tank

I didn’t think it could happen, not to us anyway. I’ve seen even the best bloggers laid low for periods of time by RL, their RSS feeders sitting blank and impotent. Well, damn it if it didn’t happen to us.

Both Lagom and I, in a simultaneous yet coincidental way, moved. He is still working out East or West coast, while I only moved twenty miles into Fort Worth, Texas proper. However, I moved not just myself, but also my sister — in a similar short move — AND my uncle. But my uncle decided to go from Texas to Washington D.C. And guess who drove the truck? I did it in 30 hours all by myself. I was shooting for 24, but… plans change. I did manage to twitter the entire way so if you’re interested, you can follow my journey.

And Surazc? Well, the less said about that mystery shrouded in a fiery — yet black as midnight — enigma the better. All I could do was assume that when he said he was busy, it meant that plans for world domination were at a crucial juncture, demon-imp minions were wailing, and we’d all be subject to a new “Kid n’ Play” movie sometime this summer. Though he did say he would have more of his fine blog entries later this week.

We’re also working on getting our own I’m Tanking What?! website up and running. We’ve run into difficulties, but we shall overcome. And hopefully soon at that.

It’s been a great year here at ITW and it looks like it’s going to get better.

Thanks for reading, you beautiful, intelligent, insightful people. More to come soon.

Keybindings and Controllers For WoW

February 10, 2009

TGAPGeorge – Warrior Tank

I came across a Logitech G13 post on the great blog, Tank like a girl, that inspired me to write about my own Ass-Kicking controller. For I too have a G13 and it’s made things so much better!

For a long time I used the WASD keys to move around, only using the mouse to click on stuff. Around level 40 — the first time I hit 40 — I realized this wouldn’t be good enough. I changed my controlling outlook to one more… well, controlling.

I needed two things:

  1. I should never HAVE to look down to see what keys I’m hitting.
  2. Most spells I use need to be readily at hand.

So I changed up my keybindings, used more mouse for movement, and for my Priest it worked fine.  Then I leveled my Warrior and found it was vastly inadequate.

cyborg-unit1Right before Circuit City went under, I found the Saitek Cyborg Command Unit for $13 in the bargain bin.  Less keys than a keyboard didn’t seem like the answer, but I was intrigued by how they were placed.  Theoretically I would have all those keys right under my fingers instead of reaching across the top row.  I gave it a shot and it worked so much better.  Better, but it wasn’t quite good enough.

New Links to Tanking Blogs

January 29, 2009

One of the best paths to becoming a better Tank is to study and learn from the Tanks who have come before you. I regularly check my Google Reader — and you should too — to see who’s posted something new on their Tank blogs.

We’ve found a number of Tanking blogs recently and have added them to our link list. You should definitely check them out. Most are specifically about one type of Tank, be it Druid, Warrior, Paladin, or DeathKnight Tanks. Regardless, each one has the potential for teaching something to us all.
